Hi,

I am currently a high school junior in a small cool in central PA. I am pretty sure that I would like to do electrical engineering in college and eventually acquire an MBA later on down the road. I noticed a while ago that RIT has a program called microelectric engineering which interested me a lot as I am mostly interested in ICs and semiconductors... but after a visit to RIT I found the place to incredibly dull and full of people who dont leave their dorms and no girls. I was impressed with the program though.

My real question is if Penn State has a respected program in EE? I live only an hour from the university park and I have talked to people who went there and they have all had awesome experiences. Would I still have a good job waiting for me after college even though PSU doesn't have a co-op etc? Also, I feel that going to a broader college would be to my advantage because I am also interested in possibly pursuing chemical engineering or even materials science.

My stats are
3.8 uw gpa Sophmore (should be a 3.9-4.0 at the end of junior year)
I am projecting that I will get a 1300 at the least on the SAT (1230 on PSAT, but I practice all the time)

ECs
Varisty Football
Varsity Track
FBLA (Have competed at state level, my school, Chestnut Ridge, is very well known for it.)
TSA (Our senior electronics classes do a project, we have won nationals many times)
NHS
Junior Exec
Gifted Program at School
I had a part time job at Circuit City

probably a few more things.

Do I have a chance at a more well known school like Carnegie Mellon or UIUC?
What schools should I be looking into for EE that would be a match for me? I still want to be able to have a good social life at college however. I hope this wasnt too confusing.

Thanks,
Josh
