Hi everyone, I have been admitted as an EE major at ucsb (duh). But I am slowly leaning towards changing my major to Computer Engineering. CE requires less math. But don't get me wrong, I like math.

Anyways, the question is how easy (or hard) would it be to change my major. Feed back on this idea would also be nice :D

I’d say you’re in good position. EEs and CEs take a lot of the same classes (they’re like twins) and changing into CE requires a slightly lower GPA than changing into EE. So even if you don’t succeed getting into CE, you’re already doing/done the classes you need for EE and you won’t have wasted 2 years trying.

Read here for everything you need to know about the process…[UCSB / ECE Undergraduate Students](http://www.ece.ucsb.edu/undergrad.shtml)

Basically, it all depends on your GPA(s).

Very easy, two days ago I changed my major from computer science to political science.

@keltix, I think the advice you’re giving him would be for someone who already is at ucsb as an EE major, OP hasn’t started his undergrad yet

@ Mancini, I thought if you already submitted your SIR, you’re stuck?
How did you change it, because it may be different for the school of Engr.

that’s weird… I just went to the admissions page and you aren’t supposed to be able to switch after you’ve sent in you SIR, but later on, it says if you don’t switch prior to ENROLLMENT, you can’t switch until the next semester…
