So, I have CS31 (Rohr), Math 32B (Liu), Physics 1B (Corbin), and a Near East Studies course... My Math and Physics finals are on the same day, back to back, and from bruinwalk.com it seems they are going to be tough finals. My CS class interferes with Prof. Corbin's workshops that are highly recommended by reviewers on bruinwalk. So I am considering dropping CS or maybe Physics. That would leave me with only 13 units (same as fall quarter). Is that advisable? Should I just wait a few weeks and see how it goes before dropping one of these classes?

you can wait til the end of second week, with absolutely no penalties whatsoever.

just look and see which of your courses are impacted, since i believe 2nd week is the last week to drop them. after that your choice will be made for you... but there's no reason to stick out 2 weeks and make a more educated decision.

or 4 weeks if non-impacted or if you want to keep going after a midterm or something.

cool... thanks for the replies!

Is there another course you can replace it with? You don't have to follow the academic planner in order in the engineering handbook.

yea i think you should try and see how it goes...
if anything... try and get into a different math class, so you wont have two finals on the same day... tho it seems like they are mostly filled ><

i mean OC's told me (like everyone) to only take 3 classes during the first quarter, and they rec'd eng comp 3, chem 20a, and math 32a - so i signed up for those... then when i went home... i decided to sign up for rohr's cs31 4-6 lecture, since there were spots open and stuff... i told myself i prob wasnt going to keep it... but i decided to try... i mean most people i knew were only taking 3 classes, and i really wasnt sure if i cud handle all 4... im really happy i kept cs31... kept me a bit ahead classwise and i got an A in the class, so that's always a plus ;]

but yea i can understand what u mean with these workshops... i'm taking physics 1b this quarter too, so i'm gonna have to check them out (i got cs32 with nachenberg at 10am, so i can go) - maybe i can try sharing some of the practice exams or w/e he gives us with u =o

yea, that might be all I need because I think Corbin also holds office hours like everyday! The only option I have for Math is taking Kucherenko's but it doesn't fit in my schedule... I would probably have to do it all over again. Same thing with taking EE1, EE2, or EE3, it interferes with my Near East Studies course, which is probably easier than EE courses anyway.
I wish I had taken CS31 last quarter too... it would have fit perfectly in my schedule, and I could have probably avoided taking Rohr... oh well, I hope my prior programming experience helps out.
I'm usually pretty good at Physics but then again, it IS physics so I'm not too confident. I guess I could drop CS31 if I can't handle it. On the plus side, I have over three whole days to study for my back-to-back finals.

if(CS31=="Rohr")
{
suicide();
}

Lol. I'm doing CS 31 with rohr, LS 2 with pires, and 30BL with Bacher. Kill me now.

int surviving_cs(professor)
{
while(professor=="Rohr")
{
study++; //globally defined
}
return study;
}

haha... honestly, I hope its not too bad.
