Bumper…

Most schools require 3 letters. You should get above 85th percentile on the math GRE (something like 770+).

Your work experience should give you a very good shot at all those schools, except Berkeley and Stanford. Those two have average GPAs around 3.85. Berkeley has a brand new M.Eng program (first offered this year’s app cycle) and I don’t know what its admissions standards are going to be. But you should definitely apply for that and not the “MS, MS/PhD” program because it’s really just a PhD program in practice.

thx. My senior+junior year gpa is higher 3.73. my dream school would be stanford. schools that i would be very happy if admitted for msee would be UCB (tough i know M.eng sounds interesting) ucla, uni texas austin,CMU. Definitely gonna bump that math gre. I am applying next year (so would have 2-3 yrs work exp)

I would be able to fund 50% since i would have saved some by then…but was wondering do my chances dramatically increase at Stanford or UCB if applied with no aid???

didnt really consider MIT prolly way out of reach plus already went to school in Northeast Penn State (MIT ----> they don’t need gre scores huh???)

My recs would be mostly from Professors. (thinking of someone at work as well for getting a better 3rd rec)

my actual score:317/340 -> M:760 V:560
Suppose if someone with background wants to go fulltime with almost full funding then which schools should this person apply?? what about part-time? original plan was the online stanford EE MS and working fulltime…right now this person is between jobs unfortunately…

thanks for help,

what do you mean by funding? Funding by the school or by yourself? The problem with Stanford’s EE MS program (in addition to some other MS programs) is the lack of transparency. The vast majority of MS students are unfunded because there are a ton of students willing to pay full freight for a Master’s. Even then, the students willing to pay full freight usually have top notch GPAs and 800 Quant scores on the GRE in the EE department. Some of these students subsequently graduate and may not be able to find a job and are then 70k in the hole. I feel like Stanford and other schools could do a better job by releasing employment stats so the investment risk is clearer for applicants. Funding by the school is tough as the school only funds those it wants to attract for a Ph.D.
