EE + Physics double major

DS is finishing sophomore year of accredited BS in Electrical Engineering. School offers a double major adding BS in Physics, which requires only two additional courses beyond the EE curriculum. He has loved his physics classes so far. Other than the modest additional work, is there any downside to this double major? Any advantages?

If it’s not going to cause additional stress or workload- given that he enjoys the subject, I’d encourage him to go for it if he wants.

Can’t think of any disadvantages. The physics will help with a greater understanding of mechanical engineering should he wish/need to change track later in his career.

It also opens up opportunities in science teaching, physics research and the often overlooked side affect of college- a lifelong interest in a field that has little/nothing to do with his day to day work.
