Just to be clear.. Early Evaluation does not affect your chances as an applicant, right? I thought you just get a little postcard notice a a month ahead to inform you of your chances, no? Applicants of EE and Regular are on equal grounds??

to my knowledge ee vs. r doesn't change anything other than when you're notified.

all i know is that according to their viewbook, EE has a 36% acceptance rate last year while RD had a 29.5ish% but i'm pretty sure that EE and RD are still on level grounds

yes. (ten characters)

smangin-

to my knowledge, no one is accepted on the basis of early evaluation, so there can't be an "acceptance rate", can there? There should be no difference between an EE "acceptance rate" and one for Regular decision, because EE applicants get their acceptance or rejection notices at the same time as RD applicants. You might be thinking about Early Decision?

With EE, I believe what happens is they just skim your application and send you a post card with a likely, unsure or not likely. Sort of like people on CC who will give you your chances when you post your statistics, except probably a more educated guess. Every year, Wellesley and similar institutions have to juggle shifting things like space, number of applicants, affirmative action applicants, transfers and so on, so your EE postcard is never the final word.

That being said, two of my friends applied EE, both got "likely"s and both were accepted. :)

oh, i guess ur right but I'm only looking at the numbers that Wellesley puts out in their viewbook

here's the info that's in the viewbook (acceptance rates for class of 2010)

Number of candidates for Early Decision: 247
Accepted: 117 Enrolled: 115

Number of candidates for Early Evaluation: 1,582
Accepted: 570 Enrolled: 192

Number of candidates for Regular Decision: 2,623
Accepted: 774 Enrolled: 295
