Hi All, I'm having a hell of a time figuring out my life right now. I'm currently an undergraduate attending the University of Iowa studying Biomedical Engineering. But after doing a few searches I'm realizing that maybe BMEs aren't in as high of demand as my college has lead me to believe (or I'm searching in the wrong places). So I have been considering other engineering degrees such as Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical then MS in biomedical engineering. It just seems to me that there is more job opportunities both IN and OUT of the biomedical field if I get a BS in one of the more traditional engineering areas (CE, EE, or ME). But at the same time I don't want to waste time/money by switching majors because I've taken a couple courses that would not transfer credit. What do you all think about this? Any and all input is wanted!!

Doing EE or ME would give you a lot more job opportunities as an undergrad. The courses you’ve taken extra will just help you in the long run if you do a MS in Biomedical. Also, if you don’t find employment in Biomedical you could always work in electrical or mechanical engineering.

^ I agree with that.

Everything hones and bill said are absolutely true! I would highly suggest you switch to another engineering major. Even if the change in your major sets you back an year, its much better and cheaper in the long run.
