indie_boy: I hear that recently the apps to that major seem to be dropping...so chances are improving

looking @ the economy and jobs...thatz what I thought...but no...EECS is still extremely competitive in other UCz and univ let alone Berkeley.

I will just take what fei said as fact, and hold my head high in ignorance.

Thanks fei, I can stop worrying.

Update

UCI: CE, Accepted on 4/26
UCSD: Pending
UCLA: Pending
UCB: Pending

Hope you all get some good news too. Good luck!

mor, what are your stats? what pre-reqs did you satisfy for the uni's?

I want to apply to the same schools as you doing the same program. You will be a basis on what schools I apply too. good luck!

I'm applying to UCB as EECS, UCLA, UCSD, and UCI as CE or ECE.

GPA is ~3.8, All A's in Math, Physics, and CS. B's in English. Math classes include 3 Calc's, Diff. Eq, and Discrete Math. Entire Physics series complete. Two Gen. Chem's. CS classes include C++ and Data Structures.

Not that many EC's, member of AGS and PTK. Work and volunteer experience related to major. Personal statement was pretty compelling I think.

Congrats on uci mor !

I can't believe that I haven't heard from UCI...but I applied for CS major...any others who have not heard from UCI ?

Still haven't heard from UCI. Does UCI still only update their website before 9am or do they do it throughout the day now? I applied for ICS.

ICS dept here too...I have no idea when they update their decisions...

why does ucsd take so late.......

3 days left for 3 UCs...can my heart handle that?!

mor, we have (or will have) the exact same stats. I plan to Ace all my math/science core classes but get B's in the english ones. English is tough for a left brained kid.

I'm VERY interested into seeing what the other schools think of you. Can't wait for updates.

at West valley & de anza college, its pretty easy to get A's in math n physics, jus study and do the work, tests are not usually tricky, cuz test designed so that students can get a C or B without really thinking, just memorizing techniques. in my classes about 1/4 to 1/3 get an A.

also in my nite time differential equ classe the class average was 90%

im kinda worried since we're not curved or competing against each other, how will we be able to handle the competition at the top UC's?

at junior college we got the idiots, but at UC everyone is at least as smart and is used to working much harder

Some of my physic professors at my CC are such mass-killers. My school has changed a whole physic sytem last year, so no one can retake Physic classes as if they receive bad grades. I still remember the most difficult physic class i've taken is Physic level 2 (themodynamic&fluid, lens, mirrors..). At the beginning of the semester, whole class has 20 people, but after the first test, they dropped like flocks of birds were shot by massive guns. Only 7 surviors left till the end. 4 incompleted -->boring class, miss test or lab, 2 of the best were C. 1 failed.
Next semester, the same situation is happened. Only 4 people haha. My friend told me best grade is still C or incomplete. After that, the school changed the whole physic system (to clear the history :D I think).

jus wanted to bring this thread back to the top, i jus go into ucla for physics

Woohoo...got into UCLA for Computer Science and Engineering. Two down, two to go. Still haven't heard from UCSD but I guess that doesn't really matter anymore. Just waiting for Berkeley now!

UCI: CE, Accepted on 4/26
UCSD: Pending
UCLA: CSE, Accepted on 4/27
UCB: Pending

Accepted to UCLA for EE!

(UCSB) UC-to-UC transfer
~3.85 Transfer GPA

phpguru

Congrats guys !

Im also in @ UCLA - CS major.
GPA -3.91 (all classes done)
Major GPA - 4.0

unggio83, guess what dude? you are in Mr. Handa's Diff eqns class right? Me too !! I am that only Indian kid sitting in the back of the class. you probably dont remember me cuz I barely attend the lectures. How about you?

And about our diff eqns class, don't consider it cuz more than 50 % of the class is made up of High School students who have already been admitted to colleges like MIT!!. Thatz why our avg is high. Also, the class itself is easy. I do realize that the classes @ UC are gonna be much tougher. But it wont be that bad (i hope). Anyways, good luck.

phpguru bhai...do you speak hindi ? congrats by the way.

Bump....anyone else ?

I posted but not in this thread, admitted to UCLA CSE. Applied to Berkeley EECS and will go there if I'm admitted. Otherwise UCLA most likely.

KissingTheShadows, have you considered UCSD? I heard it is good too...
