EECS first year courses

Hello cc,
I decided to go to Cal for EECS over Duke, JHU, Northwestern,
but one major disadvantage of going to Cal is that you have to play strategically to get into the classes/time you want...

I have a few questions about the H/SS requirements and first semester schedule:

I'll come in with sophomore standing and will be using these AP class for credits:
chem, physics Mech (took it this year, but probably a 5), Calc bc, psychology, micro+macro economics

And this is currently my schedule:

Math 54 (just took lin alg + diff equ at my high school for the whole year)
physics 7B
cs 61A
Energy and resources group c100

Total of 16 units. Is this too much?

Can I take physics 7B without the meeting the physics 7A requirement? (AP scores not out yet?)

Math 54's teacher Nadler, D has an enrollment of 449/450 and waitlist of 50. Is it simply impossible to get into her class?

I'm taking ERG c100 because it satisfies both the ethics requirement and upper division H/SS (I assume so because the course number is 100?)

Then this will be my H/SS courses:
1. R&C A (will not take yet because I might get 4 on AP english lang)
2. R&C B
3. AP Econ
4. AP Psych
5. Psychology 167AC
6. ERG C100

Does taking psych 167AC satisfy
1. upper division
2. series
3. AC requirement?

Also, since I'm going to Calso,
which courses should I use for Phase 1?

Thank you!

Here is a post I wrote up for CoE frosh schedule suggestions:

Have you taken the equivalent of Math 53 yet? Note that it is a co-requisite of Physics 7B, but it may be more helpful if it is taken before Physics 7B. If you are considering skipping Physics 7A, try the old Physics 7A final exams first.

Math H54 is available; if you have already seen the material in a high school course for which you will not get credit for, and have a strong interest in math, you may want to consider that. There is also another section of Math 54 that is not as full.

16 units is a perfectly normal course load.

Yes, courses numbered 100 to 199 are upper division.

At most two H/SS courses can be satisfied with AP credit. So if you use AP credit for R&C A and one of economics or psychology, you need R&C B and three others, including two upper division, a series, and an AC course. Yes, Psychology 167AC would satisfy one upper division, series (with another psychology course or AP psychology credit), and AC simultaneously, but still counts as only one of the six required H/SS courses.

I think you should still be able to get into Nadler off the waitlist. Be sure to get a discussion section that is not as full as the others.
