Anyone have a good idea on an easy 3-unit (or 4) course to fulfill the natural science requirement for EECS (11 units min., physics 7a + b already accounts for 8, so need 3 more)? The UG handbook suggests courses like Chem 1a, bio 1a, astro 7a, but these courses all seem to be rather time-consuming. I'm looking for a class that doesn't require much time since I'd rather spend more effort on more relevant classes. Thanks!

Looks like the courses that qualify are all lab courses, or courses which require lab courses as prerequisites.

Physics 7C is a common choice.

Physics 7C sounds like an interesting class, but it would probably take up quite a bit of time. I’m looking more along the lines of an easy upperdiv IB course (without prereqs like bio 1a/chem 1a). On a related note, does anyone how important it is to take chem 1a lab concurrently with chem 1a lecture? Are there valuable bits of information covered in lab only that would help greatly for lecture midterms?

This upcoming semester is the first time that Chem 1A and 1AL are separate, so no one really knows what it’s going to be like. But my guess would be that 1AL is largely unnecessary for 1A.
