EECS or Undeclared Engineering?

Which one is harder to get into? & if my science/engineering interests are quite scattered (at least, extracurriculars wise), should I apply Undeclared Engineering? (I’m not a robotics kid/super super super into CS kid.)

Both CoE undeclared and EECS are among the most competitive majors for UCB admission. CoE undeclared would give you free choice to choose a major within the CoE after enrolling, as long as you stay in good academic standing.

Note that chemical engineering is in the College of Chemistry, so CoE students would have to apply to change to it. Science majors are available in the College of Letters and Science (chemistry is available in both CoC and L&S), but the criteria switch to L&S is not very difficult (see https://ls.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/advchangeofcollegepetition.pdf ). Some L&S science majors are restricted (statistics, L&S CS, and ORMS, though if you are in CoE undeclared, you can choose EECS or IEOR instead of the latter two).

Thanks! Do you think it would be more advantageous for me to apply undeclared engineering because of my background, or does it not matter either way?

If you are undecided in what type of engineering to do, CoE undeclared is advantageous over any of the specific CoE majors in that it allows you to defer the decision.
