I took AP chem and got a 3. I want to do option 1 in EECS, and I was wondering if I should still take Chem 1a.

Umm, no chemistry is required for the EECS major. The only science requirements are:

1) Physics 7A, 7B, plus another of your choice (you can take Chem if you want)
2) A total of 30 units of math and science (includes AP units)

So, it's really up to you.

Chem 1A is useful for Phys 7B (gas laws & thermo).

but I guess my real question is if spending 7 hours a week in chem 1a after gettin a 3 on AP is really worth it...I wanna take classes that are more interesting...any further comments?

Oh, well then no. If you find other classes interesting, take other classes. There is no reason to take Chem 1A unless you want to.
