EECS transfers must finish in 5 semesters at most

So I read this on Cal's website. What if I can't finish everything in 5 semesters? Do I just get expelled? Being an OOS with missing prereqs due to non-offered courses at my university, I'm not sure if I can do this. Furthermore, Cal doesn't allow engineering transfers to change major, which reduces to two possible outcomes: graduate within 5 semesters or fail out.

If I take summer courses, I'm certain it's doable, but that rids my opportunity for internship/research.

This is the only reason that is hindering me from SIR-ing. My other option is Cornell, which is also great but not as stellar as Cal engineering.

Petition to stay another semester probably. The engineering advisor, from what I understand, made it seem like it wasn’t too difficult to stay another semester/year for engineering majors. Just email and engineering advisor and ask, they respond pretty fast and are very helpful.

Hi wizrd54. Actually, the 5 semester I mentioned includes the petitioned one. 4 semesters (2 years) + 1 petitioned semester. I will definitely try contacting one of the advisors. Thanks!!

I meant that I feel like you could petition for two extra semesters if needed. If you think about it, they can’t just kick you out. They most likely won’t deny you extra semesters as long as you are on a reasonable pace to graduate. If you were to screw around for a few semesters and then petition for extra semesters they would probably say no.

I see. I really hope so!!
