EECS UC Berkeley vs EE UC Davis

I got admitted into both UCB EECS and UCD college of engineering. UCD is close enough to commute. I’m really struggling about deciding which school to go to. I’m more into hardware than software (so we’re talking about the ECE route in Berkeley EECS vs EE in Davis). I’m open for challenges and would like to learn more about electrical and electronic devices, circuits, sensors, etc. Which would be the better school for this purpose and is able to teach more? At UCD it’s a quarter schedule so I understand I would be able to take more classes in a year, thus learn more, no? Does anyone have experience with these majors at any of these schools or know people who do? Which university would you suggest for this major?

How does the difficulty compare? Davis is quarter schedule, so classes move faster, thus could be really hard?

What about internships, jobs, pay, etc.? How does employment compare for UCB vs UCD?

I’m sure you can do EE with EECS, it’s more flexible. Of course employment would at least if not better than UCD because it’s Berkeley.

I think EE is a part of EECS, where it branches out between ECE and CSE. Employers would be more impressed with Berkeley, what about 5 years after graduation?

5 years after graduation is all about you, you, and you. No school will keep you from achieving anything. But if you have a bit of advantage, take it. Unless you have a love for Davis and a strong dislike for Berkeley, I would pick Berkeley. Another thing is Berkeley is more flexible, allows you to take EE and CS. As an EE person, I can say I’ve used more of my CE/CS skill then my EE skill. But I loved learning about EE.

Berkeley allows you to take EE and CS, but is this the case when you transfer for upper division coursework? Because from what I read, upper division is where it begins to distinguish EE and CS. If I go to Berkeley, I don’t plan on taking more classes than is necessary (12-15 units) due to their difficulty.

Are you freshman? From what I’ve read under EECS you have a choice for either ECE or CSE, ECE put more focus on EE and CSE put more focus on CS. Pick a path and follow the worksheet. I think for both majors you take the same lower division courses.

I’ll be a transfer student.

I still think you still need to take the common classes for the ECE and CSE. See the link below, and inside the link there are samples for transfer students. From what I read, you take the electives senior year.
