I would like to pursue an EECS program but unfortunately none is available in my area and I'm restricted on how far I can venture for college, so I was wondering what options I have.

How close can I get to an EECS program? (Without double majoring which I believe would be a waste of time and money)

I was thinking taking CpE with additional CS electives but I'm worried that the CS electives will take up all/the majority of my elective space and I won't be able to take classes that I'm interested in outside my major. Obviously it varies by school, but can I get any insight from those who've been there and know what my best options are?

I would think that CpE + CS electives would be what you are looking for but how much space they take depends on how many of the courses that you want from the CS side are/aren’t already integrated in your CpE curriculum.

Remember, a degree major is what YOU make of it. It is not restricted to what is printed on the final diploma. One should always study curriculums at other universities to make sure you can shape you broader major into your focus and interests.

Most colleges have their catalog in PDF format and some will have the entire major requirements on their department website. Look and compare so you will know what to take to shape your program.

A CS or EE major can shape their major into a CompE
A Math major can shape their major into a CS or SoftE program

LOL I am so confused when people use abbrv like EECS, ECE, and there is no link to the school you are interested (or currently in). It is hard to determine how the EECS program is constructed.
EECS can be a department name… just like ECE. It could also be a degree name… LOL

What CS electives do you want to take??? That’s the important part.
