Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I got accepted, guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's funny because earlier this afternoon, I was complaining how the end of March felt like the end of eternity and lo and behold, I come home to find a "Yes Macalester" envelope in my mail! I saw it and I was like,"Could it be???" and it was! Good luck to all of you who applied! I wish you the best! The feeling when you see that letter...whew...indescribable.

Already? Its not even march yet...

Congratulations.

My son got the same envelope yesterday (monday)

ooh maybe that means it will come today for me, that'd be a niec surprise

Ok... So they've already started mailing out letters? Last year, people didn't receive their letters until around March 25th or so...

Although I'm not certain, I think it may be a Midwest thing, l_j's son got a letter and he's in S. Dakota and I'm in Minnesota. Don't worry moocow, I'm sure it's coming! :)

What was the date of the letter? I would assume that they send them all out at relatively the same time. I'm in Tx so it will be a while. It took 6 days for wisconsin's acceptance letter to make it here... Ugh.

Also, is your admission decision posted on the website?

I checked and the decision wasn't on the website, although I received the acceptance letter today. One more in the bag.

wow, i cant believe the day the letter may come the mail doesnt arrive. sigh

My d got her YES Macalester letter today as well. The letter states that apps are still being reviewed so don't panic if you don't get one. Anyone have an idea of how many of these early notice letters Mac sends out?

ccgmom, which state do you live in?

Macalester is definitely my #1 choice... I'm quite envious of you guys! It will take quite a bit of luck for me to get accepted, i'm afraid :(.

I got it too! :) :) Don't start expecting a decision too soon, though. The letter said that most decisions will still be mailed out on March 30th. These early decisions were given to a group of applicants whom Macalester decided were definite admits.
Much congratulations to those who've already gotten in, and good luck to those who are still waiting!

Mailed out on March 30th? Hmmm. That seems quite late.

i'm in iowa and i just got my letter of acceptance today (march. 2)...pretty cool

Could you guys please post your stats so we can get an idea what macalester considers a "definite admit"?

A's and B's all through high school. I got one semester average C in chmiesty my sophomore year.

Had a pretty strong art portfolio, I think that helped. Also had good recs. Also I had E.C.s that weren't huge in number but were consistent through the years and i held leadership positions.

Hope that helps get you an idea?

Im in california- do you think I'll get my letter soon? Oh, and do financial aid awards come out with acceptance letters, or could they hold up delivery of an admissions decision? Btw, those were some intimidating stats, congratulations!

thanks i guess -- i didnt get any financial information, i am probably not going bc i got a good scholarship at grinnell that im not good enough for macalester to beat, not to mention god those winters, im miserable here in ohio let alone up there.

We don't have weighted GPAs and my unweighted one is 3.8. 29 ACT. I'm a slacker, so no SAT or SAT II. My AP's are U.S. Government and Politics, Psychology, Biology, and Calculus. Hope that helps. By the way, tagran, winters in Iowa are just as bad as winters in Minnesota! :)

Did any acceptees get a scholarship?
