eek eek i'm in committee!! help me! (lolabelle this means you!)

ok, so the other day i got stopped by my guidance counselor in the hall telling me that tufts asked for my 1st quarter grades, and that i was in committee for ED.

my first quarter grades are good, for the most part:

AP Gov: 94
AP English: 90
French: 94
Physics: 94

Except for one GLARING problem...

AP Calc AB: 77!!

Is this going to DESTROY my chances?

I've thought it through both ways:

1) KILLDEATH: They see me vs. another applicant, virtualy identical save for a better grade in a comparable math, and they take that applicant instead of me..:(

2) HAPPINESS: They see that I am at least one standard deviation worse at math (this is significant) than I am at anything else, and this is transcript and test-score wide (example, my SAT I is 800CR/670M/770W, and MY math grades tend to be at least 5-7 points lower than my other grades as a trend). They see that math is a weak point, but decide that they still want me...:)

Which is more likely?

I have absolutely no idea, I'm not an admissions officer. If that grade is consistent with your math grades through hgih school, I'm guessing it won't make too much of a difference. Good luck!

Well I don't know if this is useful anecdotal evidence or not, but when I got a C- in AP Calc BC, the admissions officer I talked to told me not to worry as many students often have difficulty in that particular course. Granted this was after I was accepted and the rest of my grades relatively didn't change. I doubt it will hurt you TOO much, but I don't know - things have gotten a lot harder over the years. I doubt I would get in nowadays if I applied.
