There are tons of these threads, but i need some personal reassurance about senior year grades

i was deferred from pomona, my ED choice. considering they reject the vast majority of their applicants and accepted less than 20% from early, this is not bad. i talked to an admissions officer, and he said that because my grades/classes had improved so much compared to my other years of high schoool, they would still consider me a strong applicant. in fact, he basically said that the only reason i wasn't rejected was because of my 1st quarter grades

Here's what my midterm report will look like (1st and 2nd quarter grades are sent)

AP Politics: A/A
AP Psychology: A/B+
English H: A/A
AP Calc AB: A/A+
Latin II: A+/A+
Physics H: A+/A

with all of the competitive schools i am applying to, a LOT of weight is on my first semester grades. Basically, if i get into Pomona, Carleton, or any of my other top schools, it's because I did very well my first semester. But despite the fact that i improved in AP Calc, is it gonna hurt me i went down (albeit slightly) in Psych and physics? i mean, would Pomona's decision really be affected that much because i went half a letter down in two classes?

i am a neurotic pain in the @ss, but it is really cold in the northeast and i want to go to california! please help??
