eFAN question

So I just got my eFAN award letter today online. I know I have a Cal Grant, but it doesn't say anything about it on there.

The only ones I saw were:
-Scholarship recognition
-Federal Pell grant
-Federal work study
-Federal Perkins loans
-(and other loans)

Should I call up the financial aid office about this? What should I do?

They will get to the Cal Grant eventually... at least that is what they have been telling me.

My friend got his listed on his eFAN. If you are unsure about anything, just call them. It doesn't really hurt you to call them.

I know I have a Cal Grant too, but if they were to make changes to my award, how would that affect my other awards? Would they lower my loan amounts? (I've already accepted and completed my loan paperwork - I'm awaiting disbursement) Or would the Cal Grant replace my work-study?

You should call the financial aid office and ask.

My friend from last year, had the same situation too. She had a cal grant but it wasn't listed. And when she called and have them enter the right details, they replaced her university grants with the cal grants instead..
Kinda sucks. But don't take my word for it.

Oh...Maybe I should save the Cal Grant then...? I think I have about 2.5 years left...

Correction: 1.5 years - Here's the website where you can check on your cal grant eligibility: https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/logon.asp

Correction 2: I don't know if you can "save" the cal grant...I know they offered an option to postpone awarding the Cal Grant if you were at a cc until you transferred to a 4-year... I don't know... I contacted them and I'll let you know.

the CC to the 4 year deal, yes it is possible to save the cal grant till then.

Anyway, I just called the california student commission aid(the ones in charge of cal grant) and basically it is because my Cal Grant was still listed under the community college I was in, so I changed it to UCLA. It didn't take long at all to access a representative.

This was what I had to do too, 2 years ago. On my cal grant I originally had "pasadena city college" on, but I decided to go to glendale community college, and when the financial aid award letter came in from GCC, it didn't list Cal grant on it. So that's what I did 2 years ago.
Essentially the same thing too this time.

But now I don't know whether I should "activate" my loans, ahh. I mean, if something happened like my friend, where they replaced my university grants with the cal grant. I really hope that is not the case. More free aid is always better than taking up loans!

Guys, how much loans are you guys taking out? I've never done this before so I'll see.

Cal grants tend to drop your university grants first. If you actually got Cal Grant and university grant, you would be getting so much free money. If I managed to get both, I would probably have gotten close to like 18k free money. That's not even including like 6k loans and like 1.3k work study. My EFC was 7k btw.

At least with me and my friend, ours took away from our University Grants.

I wish it replaced loans, but whatever :( I'll take what I can get!

I take roughly 6k per year in loans Stafford and Perkin loans.

To follow up my previous response about the Cal Grant I will quote a response I got from the FAO.

"When the office receives confirmation from CSAC that you are Cal grant eligible here at UCLA a new eFAN will generate. This can take 3 to 4 weeks."
