Hello,

I plan to transfer to Gustavus in the fall of 2011. I'm currently at a community college with a GPA of about 3.7 (after 1 year). My reason for going to a CC is because of my high school grades - only a GPA of 2.9.

I have heard that Gustavus offers great financial aid, which is what I need. I'm a 19yo full time student with no help from my parents. They're both unemployed and have been in and out of treatment/jail many times in the past few years. As time goes on I'm slowly drifting away from them. Currently, my tuition at the CC is paid for by the Federal Pell grant.

My question to any current or past students, or even anyone who knows information, what should I expect as far as aid goes? The cost without any aid is about 40K/year. (eek) I'm mostly interested in grants/work study but loans are an option.

I've been told that students who are basically on their own end up getting great aid. Can anyone back this up?

Thanks for the help :-)
