GWU has been a top choice of mine for a while, and I'm fairly confident that I could get accepted w/ some merit aid (2140 SAT's, 3.86 UW, a few state awards, First Gen.), but I'm starting to doubt that I would get enough merit and need-based aid to afford GWU's astronomical costs. What do you think?

I think with a combination of need and merit aid all your tuition costs would be covered, but it doesn't really matter what we think on this board. You'll have to apply and wait for your package. Only then will you know. Every thing else is supposition. Have backup alternatives for worst-case scenario.

GW is making an effort to increase the aid they provide; it seems somewhat convincing right now frankly, but I too will need to see what they come up with.

It really depends on how bad they want you, and what niche you might fill for them depending on this year's needs (geographic diversity, oboe player, high test scores, non-popular major, published research, track, poet, photography hobby, fill-in-the-blank).

I just got a letter in themail from GW (did you guys see it too?) about increased financial aid and an average package of $37K. If your EFC is 0 that might not be enough, but maybe you can work with the FA office for more
