EFC - combination of parents/students?

<p>But how can you tell which is which? I'm not sure it matters but I'm curious. On the EFC practice calculators it showed the amount the student was expected to cover and a separate amount for parents. The EFC is one sum - with very little explaination.</p>

<p>Do all/most schools explain how they deal with FASFA on their websites - need based info?</p>

<p>You can't tell on the FAFSA form itself, but if you enter the exact same numbers on the detailed federal-methodology form at <a href="http://www.finaid.org%5B/url%5D"&gt;www.finaid.org&lt;/a> -- you will get a breakdown there.</p>
