EFC, fin. aid., and being a bad ass veteran!

I am a vet will be using Ch. 33 benefits. Just did my FAFSA and because of the disability that I get from the VA I have an EFC of 5996 which is much higher than 0. Anyone out there a vet with an EFC value close to this and using CH.33 know what kind of fin aid package I will be looking at from the UC.(applied to UCSC, UCD, UCB) Thanks

I believe that if your discharged

Ch 33 will pay for basically all your tuition and fee along with monthly housing and book funds as well

So i wouldn’t worry about efc but an active service member can probably help you more

I’m a vet at UCSD with an EFC of like 3500, and I got a 2100 dollar pell grant, and a 10000 dollar UC grant (for winter and spring quarters). I submitted a fafsa really late in the game so I don’t know if I would have gotten a cal grant also. I just didn’t know we could get ch 33 benefits and fin aid, so I never submitted a fafsa till about a week before the fall quarter. Hopefully this year I’ll get more lol. The beautiful thing is that ch 33 pays for everything so those grants just get refunded to you cash!

Yeah I know all about the bene’s of having Ch. 33 and how it pays for tuition and such but I knew that there was other money that vets also get from fin aid. thanks though

@USMC yeah I remember your posts from my original vet fin aid topic i had a few days ago. I just got my FAFSA done so…glad to hear you got all that with an efc of 3500. It sounds like you are the only other vet besides me I see regularly posting here. Well posting and saying your a vet.

I’m a vet…but I was lucky enough to do my time AFTER they paid for my school. Good luck you guys, and thanks for your service!
