Im goin to a community college and did my financial aid, my EFC is 06356 and i cant get a Pell Grant. I dint know what that means or if i am even able to still get financial aid at all.

A Pell grant is a federal grant (not a loan) for low income students that is based on the EFC. You are still eligible for federal loans and any other financial aid your school may offer, such as state grant programs, if you meet the terms of those programs.

Most community colleges do not give grants. You, like everyone, will be eligible for a $5500 Stafford loan and your school may give you a work study job. You may also be eligible for a Cal Grant.

Since your EFC is too high for a Pell Grant, it’s unlikely you’re going to get any “free money” for your CC.

Your EFC is over $6k…which may be more than the COA of your CC. What is the COA of your CC?

As mentioned above, you can take out a student loan.

How much will your family contribute?

You should try to minimize loans by working part time and during the summer. CCs in Calif don’t cost that much.

Thank you for the information very much needed.
