Hey everyone, I just received my award letter from my school and my EFC rose significantly ( approx $1800) and my pell grant decreased to approx. $1800. How can that happen when all the numbers are the same? I'm so frustrated right now b/c I really don't know what to do anymore. Anyone have an idea why it changed? Thanks

Any reasons why?

you need to call your FA office. usually this happens when you send in verification information and the FA office enters your figures. they recalculated the information and it changed your EFC.

I found out why my EFC increases because on my FAFSA I put a check under my mother attending school and my FA Advisor thought it was another sibling attending college but I'm the only one. Therefore, the more individuals ( siblings) you have in college the more fed. grants you receive. Also, she told me that the government's standard price of attending a university is $25,000 and will give aid according to how much the parents can afford. Thanks though for all the help though :)
