The figure is below the PELL grant cut off, so a student from such a family will get PELL money. The student is also eligible for some Stafford loan interest subsidization while in school, and if the need exists and the school has work study funds, the student might be eligible for those. If some state programs are tied into the EFC, then the student may be eligible for those.</p>

<p>With a low EFC like that you need a good strategy when applying to schools. There’s little point in applying to many certain schools if you’re not likely going to get aid or merit from them. It’s fine to apply to a few just to see, but it’s better to focus on more likely successes. :)</p>
