EFC, tuition-EFC=$$ from the college?

does anyone know what the college does with the EFC from FAFSA? any experience on how/how much the college has given to the student to meet the need? any opinon is needed

This question is asked so many times, Crazyforee. The EFC is what government methodology suggests that your family should pay for college. For those schools that just request the FAFSA AND give 100% of need, yes, your aid package will be the Cost of going to that college minus the EFC. Now that aid package is not likely to be all grants. You will get what ever the federal government offers at your family income level, the state government and what the college offers and the package could include loans and workstudy.

The catch is that few schools guarantee 100% of need to be provided, and those that do ask for more info from their own financial aid apps or PROFILe. Some just give you what they feel they can and "gap", leaving you to come up with the rest. The additional questions from the new forms may give you a larger number than the EFC, and, again, the college may gap if it does not guarantee that 100%. Some schools that are need aware, may not accept you if the gap is too great, and they do not feel you are likely to come with such a big gap.
