I made corrections for the schools I am applying to on my FAFSA since I am applying to more than 10 schools, but my EFC for the second submission was 20,000 more than my first, even though all of the financial information was unchanged. Is there an explanation for why that is?
How did you make your corrections? What did you change?
I only changed the schools I was applying to since you could only list 10 at a time. I switched out the 10 I had and entered 10 more in so that the other colleges would receive my FAFSA too. I didn’t change anything else, which is why I’m very very confused right now.
Something else must have inadvertently gotten changed. Log in and print out the Student Aid Reports for both transactions. Compare them line by line.
Thank you for that suggestion! I don’t have the copy for the one that’s processing right now, but once it gets through I will definitely do that.
@biobiz definitely sounds like something inadvertently got changed. In addition to comparing the Student Aid Reports, you can also call 1-800-4-Fed-Aid to ask about the discrepancy and what they can see on their end.
Is it possible one of the first 10 schools made a change @kelsmom?
It’s possible, but doubtful at this early stage.
