EFC?

With an EFC of over 40000, what is the likelihood of getting any aid from schools?

If the school is Harvard, you have a chance. If the school is State U and the COA is $35k, no chance.

You might get other grants or awards, though, and those might require FAFSA.

However Harvard requires CSS Profile. So your EFC may be a lot higher. See https://college.harvard.edu/financial-aid/applying-aid/prospective-students

School is not Havard but some very good OOS schools both public and private, cost of these all exceed $40k+

Completed both CSS and FAFSA

Since you’re talking about EFC, I assume you’re asking about need-based aid.

If the COA is more than the EFC (as calculated by the school, not FAFSA) and the school meets full need, the likelihood is very good.

Really, it all depends on the school.

From a CSS Profile school? They don’t use FAFSA EFC. What did those schools’ NPCs show?

My daughter has standing scholarship offers from several schools, Tulane $32K, Case Western $25K, Alabama full academic scholarship, The U has offered her $14K cane achievement award. The U and Tulane are very high on her list of schools with the U being slightly favored.

Your CSS Profile “family contribution” will likely be equal or greater than $40k.

Your DD got a $14k award from UMiami. So that’s over $54k subtracted from UMiami’s COA. The rest would likely be a $5500 loan and $2k work study.

@mom2collegekids ughhhhh…Roll Tide is looking better and better every day…
