A private school would give you less aid if future year income increases.
Some of these schools use the CSS Profile to determine their institutional need based aid. Cornell and Bates definitely do, as does Ithaca, Bucknell, Dickinson, and I think St. Lawrence.
Since the 2016 income WILL be used for the 2018-2019 financial,aid year, some schools will NOT reconsider aid for the 2017-2018 year because the 2016 income is lower. Sure, contact the colleges and find out what you need to do if they will reconsider…but don’t be surprised if the answer is that they won’t…because the 2016 income WILL be used the following year.
