my efc= 28000 and the college i wanna go to is gonna cost me like 35000 to 40000, will i get aid? if i do will it be loans? im hoping that theyll give me like 7000 in aid without loans

Probably all you will get is loans and work study, with possibly a very small grant. Except for a couple of elite colleges, like Princeton, almost all colleges build their aid packages starting with "self-help", and that generally accounts for at least $5-7000 of the aid.

is "self help" loans?

self help = loans + work study

I already got a Merit presidential scholarship of $52K over four years which is $13k a year. I did my EFC and it came out to be $6308. Am I going to get a lot of aid, or do you think they're going to make it all up with loans. Do i get grants etc... i'm not quite sure how this thing works..

wats work study? r those loans too?

federal work study is paid work awarded as part of need based financial aid. It's main benefit (other than being paid) is that it is not held against you in calculating your EFC. It is shown as income on FAFSA then deducted somewhere else (worksheet c I think).
