<p>On the FAFSA i filed as an independent because i'm a ward of the court. So, on UCSB and UCSD's financial aid packets, I was only expected to contribute, not my 'parents'. MY EFC on their packages is $481 (yeah, low) so that's what I was expected to contribute, plus loans I'd have to get too. </p>
<p>But on Berkeley's I have $2500 as my parent's expected contribution. Is that a mistake on Berkeley's part? It doesn't even match my EFC and I didn't report a parent's income at all.</p>
<p>No idea - but they won't if you don't ask. So call. Or email if you feel better expressing yourself in writing (I am better writing). Though at this very busy time of year you may wait for an answer. </p>
<p>Anyway it sounds like a mistake to me. But my opinion is not really relevant - only they can answer your question. So explain to them about being a ward of the court etc. Good luck.</p>
