Effect of Dropping a Class?

I dropped out of pre-calc honors today (I received a D and an F on my first two tests, which is odd because I thought my teacher's tests weren't too difficult, and I studied for a number of hours, but I guess it was due to careless mistakes?).
I'm still on track to do AP Calculus AB as a Junior, but I'm wondering if this would make me seem like a careless or terrible or lazy student. I'm not even sure if it'll show up on my transcript? I really like math and all, but I suppose I should have been more careful on my tests.

Oh wait, I also took Alg II H as a sophomore, so I guess colleges would ASSUME I dropped out? I’m sure colleges like UCLA and Stanford would know the math sequence in our school because they have accepted a number of students from our school each year.

Last year our school sent 5 kids to Stanford and around 30-40 to UCLA.
I am so disappointed in myself > >

no. it doesn’t matter

Can’t handle pre-calc and want to do calculus Junior year?
scratches head

haha, well at my school the math sequence is like this:
math analysis (which I dropped to) -> Calculus AB
pre-calc/calculus A honors -> Calculus BC

and my class is significantly easier than my previous class :slight_smile: so it’s not a worry to me.
but thank you!

To be honest I’m baffled. What grade are you in? Are you a 10th grader? If you are, then I wouldn’t worry about it. However, what did you drop down to? Algebra 2? Regardless though, you’re ahead of most people so there is no need to worry. Best of luck this year!

Pre calc gets significantly easier as you go along.

As long as you withdrew passing, it shouldn’t matter

Precalc is Algebra II over again, just do it. If you are good at math you will pick it up, no one is pressuring you to stay, though. If you feel as if you have better things to do, then go ahead. Maybe you can take a difficult humanities course, it really is your choice.
