In junior year my GPA was 4.42. My cumulative is quite decently above 4.0. This semester though, I seem to be on track for a lower GPA. I currently have a 3.92, and, although it will probably get higher (to slightly above 4.0), there is no chance that it will be as high as junior year. How badly do you think this will impact my chances of getting into such schools as USC and UCLA?

UCLA (and all UCs) use grades through junior year to determine admission and you do not submit any mid-year report so you are safe there. USC requires a mid-year report with first semester grades and thus they could have some impact there. I do not know your actual grading system but a 3.92 doesn’t sound like something that would be considered a real fall-off by USC.
