Effect of Need-Aware Admissions on EDII

Hi everyone, I'm an applicant who's very interested in Wesleyan and I would be absolutely willing to commit to the college under the Early Decision II plan. However, their newly implemented need-aware process for admissions concerns me. If I understand correctly--only the last 10% of the class is evaluated with need considered? How exactly does this impact Wesleyan's Early Decision pool? For someone who will need generous financial aid, I would really like to know whether it will be a deciding factor in admission to the college that is my first priority at the moment. I'm making the decision whether to apply EDII to Wesleyan or Vassar (need-blind), but would much rather attend Wesleyan so any helpful comments would be great! Thank you.

Why don’t you out and out ask Wesleyan’s Admission’s office whether ED2 will be processed on a need aware basis or not? I don’t think any one outside of those working with the new policy knows how it works because it’s new. We never know whether need awareness creeps into certain niche areas of admissions. Few if any schools are completely need blind in admissions. Some exclude transfers, certain programs, internationals, waitlist, and may also have Early programs in there. You gotta ask someone who knows.
