How does 1-day suspension from highschool from plagarism affect admission?

It would look really bad. If I were you I would just say no to the question. I think most colleges dont even cabll to check. I asked my counselor and he said they asked only if its like for a scholarship. But plaigarism would mess you up badly.

Yeah, it wouldn't be good. Make sure you write an explanation.

I DO NOT ENCOURAGE THE FOLLOWING---Depends on how you want to approach this. If your counselor was cool and let you see his or her evaluation before they sent it and didn't mark anything down, I'd say try it. If you do this, there are two things that can happen: 1.) you get rescinded and blacklisted if you get caught, or 2.) you be really careful and check what your counselor sends in.
If it wasn't marked down, it's as if it never happened.--THE PRECEDING WORDS WERE NOT ENDORSED BY ME.

If it were me though, I'd just be totally honest and tell them that you were suspended and learned to never do it again. Mention something about how from that day on you were never again punished for anything else at school. Somehow bring up your grades. If the teacher whose class you plagiarized in is writing one of your recommendations, have him or her mention it.

its not only that, they also call your school, so they can ask your counselor then;
my counselor admitted that our school will admit to student's suspensions.
Best chance youhave?
Admit it, and say how that was soooooo wrong

Don't check you were suspended. Do what suat and 3point7 say. Make sure the GC doesn't send in documents that prove what you were saying as false..

Edit - Unless, of course, you're so morally inclined to report it. Wouldn't want you to regret checking no.

So, a student is caught plagiarizing, and another student recommends s/he lies on her application about it. In other words, just keep on cheating.

I have absolutely no idea how Brown or any other school handles this sort of thing. In my opinion, it's better to mess up in high school than in college or later in life, and most people understand that. OTOH, when there are so many talented students vying for a limited number of spots, any little thing that works against you can be the trigger to removing your name from the "accept" pile.

If I were you, I'd have conversations with your guidance counselor and call some admissions offices of colleges about this.

I can honestly say if they did check. I would not be going to any college. And I got accepted to 9 so far so. I ve been suspended more than like 10 times.

OKAY
I know that Brown really looks into EACH applicant. That means that they will give your school a call, unless your counsellor did not put a check mark that he will want to talk to someone about you over the fone. THat means you are bad news.

If I were you, I would send it as it is. I made a mistake and I learnt from it. i did not know it was a big deal and my high school, which is supposed to prep me for college, has shown me that EVERY detail in your work matters. Tell them that you have learnt from this AND PROVE IT!
If possible, send them a letter from your teacher who detected the cheating. Tell them that this has greatly shown you that one little mistake will KILL YOU! You will be a start student. Many students do this a get away with it. They pay for it later on.

suatkilic -- Only a matter of time :O

ew.. 1) dont get suspeneded...

all aboard the fail train

You learnt from it, you will never do it again, and you are living prove that it is a bad thing
GAME OVER! Write that and let is be. The good thing is that you are honest
If they see that you wrote it, they will pay more attention
If you are able to explain yourself more, that is a plus.
