Effects from tuition hikes and student reductions?

[CSU May Hike Tuition 15%-20%, Cut Enrollment, Layoff Faculty This Fall - LAist](http://laist.com/2009/07/08/csu_may_hike_tuition_15-20_cut_enro.php)

So CSU is planning to raise tuition by 20-30% and reduce enrollment by 32,000???
Holy cow, a reduction of 32,000 is huge.

How many students you guys think will be targeted for reduction at SLO?

no one???

Rumor has it that Facilities Services will lay off all of its student assistants soon due to the budget shortfall… So, I might be out of a job in a little bit. Or not, so far it has just been a rumor.

Tuition was effectively going up no matter what happened, due to that College Based Fees vote a few months ago. So, nothing particularly unexpected there. The possibility of faculty layoffs is a bit more worrisome. The CSC department even warned us to take as many necessary classes as possible fall, because we don’t know when they will be back again. I’m not sure if that was just someone in the department panicking or if that was for real.
