Effects Of A 3 On Ap Exam?!?

3s are not significant scores.

To jugartenis: You are crazy. First, get your story straight. A 3 is considered a C, not a D. Second, to conform to mediocracy would be to simply take all general classes instead of taking AP. Contrary to the microcosm that CC makes, the general high school population of the US almost NEVER takes an AP class. Just the fact that you are going to take an AP class is a good step towards wanting to get into your college and blah blah blah. Passing an AP exam, even with a 3, shows you are at least serious about wanting to go to college. Of course, it depends on which college it is, but you cannot honestly sit here and tell me that a 3 is going to hurt you in the application process when so many other kids didnt even bother taking the AP test or class. Its true what you said about selective colleges, though. Getting a 3 won't help at schools like Harvard, but it definitely WON'T hurt.

I think a 3 will prove that there is inflation at your school.

I don't think it will hurt, but Ivies will be wondering how an above 100 average student can only get a 3. Getting a 3 is like getting like half of the highest possible score (I think).
