Effects on admission for canceling score

Hey guys,

I got my AP scores today and to my dismay found 2 out of 8 scores were <3. If I cancel these scores now would it cause colleges to raise eyebrows about me having taken the class and yet not having the scores? Also if I didn't cancel my scores would I not be able to get AP Scholar with Honor since although my average was above a 3.25 and I received 7 5's and 4's, I also had two scores below 3(thus not meeting the requirement of having " scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams"?

Thanks for any advices you can give!

I thought your less than 3 was a heart haha.

Anyway, you definitely had scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams–7 of them actually. So you should still get AP scholar with honor.

And your scores are self-reported on your college app. You don’t need to include the scores if you don’t want to. And I don’t see why they would raise eyebrows about not taking the tests. A lot of people at my school don’t take the AP test even if they’re in an AP class. If the teacher is bad, it could be less than half of the class that actually take the test. There’s nothing weird or suspicious about it.

Awesome! I’ve been so worried about those 2s. About self-reporting-do you get to choose what scores to send or does it automatically send ALL existing scores?

sorry to go a little of the thread… but how do you cancel your scores after receiving them in mail? Are they completely erased? They won’t appear in my score card if I take the same AP exams again? I thought you could only cancel your scores until some date in June. but i have been reading a lot of threads on cc right now that say that we can cancel scores.
I need to cancel all of them because I did pretty badly. Reasons aside. Can you tell me how to do it?

When you self-report (for example, on the Common App), you are the one showing your AP scores, not the College Board, so you can report whatever scores you want. Self-reporting is not the same as an official score report, which costs $15 per school, and will include whatever scores that are not canceled or withheld. If you want to send an official report, with some of the scores withheld, you will need to pay $10 per score per report to hide the score, in addition to the report fee.

Keep in mind though, that if you listed a college on your registration sheet, they will get all of the scores on the report, unless you withheld or canceled them on of before June 15.

Crazylifefreak, the June 15 deadline applies to canceling scores from this year’s score report and the report sent to the college you pick. You can cancel your score at any time, by filling out [this form](http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/ap-score-cancellation-form.pdf), and sending it to the College Board.

so if i fill in that form and send it to college board NOW, they will cancel my scores and it will not appear in the score reports from next year onwards? for information, i did not request my scores to be sent to any college.

That is correct. If you cancel a score, it is deleted permanently. You do not get a refund of the exam fee though.

Collegeboard has a privacy policy. Colleges can not voluntarily see all your SAT, ACT, AP scores, if you do not send them, unless they appear on your transcript, in which case you would have to ask your guidance counselor to remove such scores.
