Effects race has on admissions

I was born in india but attained us citizenship does this hurt or help my chances in admissions?

Being Indian does make admissions more difficult because you are competing with a super-competitive demographic that tends to have higher scores/grades overall. But since you are a U.S. citizen you don’t have to face the even tougher competition in the international pool, so that’s good. Race does play a factor in admissions but it will not seriously hinder you at all if you have strong aspects to your application (good grades, scores, essays, unique qualities, etc.) So don’t let the fact that you are Indian worry you, other factors are much more important than race. That’s my take, good luck to you…from a fellow Indian :)
