Does anyone have any tips on becoming more productive and efficient with homework? I tend to be half distracted at all times. It recently took about four hours to do an hour and a half's worth of work. I've tried setting goals and specifying breaks and everything, but I could use some help.

I can't work at home since I have iTunes, AIM, and others that distract me (CC too).

I take myself to the library and sit down for awhile and usually I can focus.

I also keep lists and keep tabs on upcoming tests and such to keep myself motivated.

Sometimes I get distracted but then I try to remember what goals I set for myself to waken up.

There are numerous threads on this with "Procrastination" as a title. SO, I suggest checking it out.

Make sure you are sleeping and eating well also.

Visualize your goals. Imagine holding a report card covered with A's and A+'s. Picture yourself relaxing while all your procrastinating friends are scurrying to get the assignment done on time...

I find that reminding myself WHY I do homework helps when it comes to dealing with procrastination.

Procrastination is fun. Why would anyone want to stop doing it?

...because you realize you're only screwing yourself in the end.

efficiency = force out / force in

That's all I need.

I listen to my iPod and sing along to the songs while doing my homework and before you know it I'm done.

I listen to "Ride of the Valkyries."

You should too.

I mean, if this doesn't inspire you, you're a lost cause. Really... it's that powerful.

I need suggestions too. Right now I'm taking 5 AP Classes, 1 regular one, and one community college class that's worth 8 credit hours. I go to the library to keep distractors at bay, but stuff still takes me WAYYY to long. I'm pretty focused, but I just need to get faster at doing things. Tips???

Make a schedule. Say that you'll do Assignment 1 from 3:00 - 4:00. If you're not done, you'll have to move on to Assignment 2. When you're all done, go back to your unfinished work.

Edit: Computer malfunction. Sorry.

Edit: I had a computer malfunction. Ugh.

Edit: Sorry. Technical problems with the computer.

I usually do a couple assignments at night and then save some for the morning when I wake up (I wake up at 5:30 for a 7:15 bus since I like extra time in the morning). I find I do assignments a lot faster in the morning when there is a time crunch. Obviously this doesn't work every night since some assignments take a while. But I seriously wrote 8/10 pages of my research paper last year when I woke up at 4AM (Had to wake up early for that one) and ended up getting a 98 on it.
