egg carton padding or memory foam

icedragon: if it’s the kind that has different kinds of textures than yup, it’s comfy. ^_^

thats the one :D, and thats the only place i was able to find one in my area… good thing my mom and i had 20% off cupons :D

Should i air it out or was it fine?

it was fine right out of the bag for me. i dunno how other people use them, but i put a mattress pad over the egg carton and then my basic sheet. i was the only one that had an egg carton so everyone ended up crashing on my bed >.< lol

Hi

I used an egg box mattress cover for years in South Africa. It was fantastic - and I’m sorry I never brought it with me to the UK!
I have only tried a memory foam pillow, but don’t like them. I am in the process of getting another egg box matter cover.

Put the mattress in the closet and get a tempurpedic mattress lol.

That is, if you have $1200 to spare…

What NYUstudent said.

A mattress is an investment. You sleep on it for years and years. Next time you gotta replace your mattress get the best you can buy.

edit: Yes I know it’s not really feasible in dorms, but once you’ve got your own place definitely make the investment on a good mattress.

All I desire are two sheets, a blanket, and a mattress.

We went the egg crate route at first - tossed them when D went to study abroad as we shipped everything back to home residence. Next - memory foam - D slept better than she ever had. We picked up the memory foam from Costco.

btw the $1200 is for a twin. If you want a Queen/King it’ll run you $2k to $3k. But higher end ones run you about that much anyway and tempurpedic is evidently better. Dunno.

I think it’s more important what you feel comfortable in than anything. If you like a rock hard mattress, obviously tempurpedic isn’t for you. But I rather like the idea of my mattress molding to my body.

I went with egg crate, $30 from target, works just fine, and you can recycle/discard at the end of each year without guilt. That was important to me because I lived on the other side of the country and didn’t want to worry about storing it over summers.
