There the "Ask the Dean" person says not to report changes unless the error is egregious .

My question is: Is my error egregious enough to call the admissions office. SCEA decision is expected this week for one of my colleges and I have 3 more which I applied RD ( all competitive). Please help. TIA

For anyone on here who has worked in admissions, I guess my question would be “would it hurt the applicant to notify the schools he has applied to of the error?” The error is clearly minor, and not intentional. Because here is the other side of the coin … if the applicant does not get in, will he constantly be wondering if he didn’t get in because the college questioned the 60 hours that summer and wondered what else he may have exaggerated on… I would think a simple and brief email to the geographic admissions counselor would be fine… (just not repeated emails…)

Yes, I was going to give the same advice as momof2 – just send a short email to the admissions officer for your area. Something like,

‘I wanted to offer a correction to one item on my common application. The extra curricular item “blah, blah” was incorrectly marked as summer after 11th grade, when it should have been summer after 10th grade. I just wanted to make this clear to avoid any confusion regarding the timing of my summer activities. I am very excited about my application to <college x=""> and am looking forward to receiving my admissions decision. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thanks! yetanotherid’</college>
