SM

okay okay.
all they have to do is call: 1 800prizes and they will hear a recorded message. It'll sound soething like this:

"Dear Egyptian. We are pleased to announce that you are the lucky winner of our wonderful prize. All you have to do is send us your credit card number so we can deduct the shipping fees and other routine payments we, by law, require. Please keep in mind that the deductions will come to a total of 5000 US dollars. Then all you have to do is wait for as long as it takes to get your prize. Thank you and please call again."

so if you want a prize...call :):):):):):):)

since it took me 6 months to find other egyptiansd on this site, I felt that it was my duty to bump this thread. I still think that there are more than 3 Egyptians here, I'm still optimistic

so.......bump!!!!!!!!

Hi
I, the OP, have decided to revive this thread. I know that there are like three Egyptians on these forums, but what the hell. people from other Arab countries, or anywhere else for that matter, are of course welcome to post lol.
I put too much effort into finding people to jsut let this thread die.

Oh, wait! I just though of a friend of mine whom I introduced to CC. I'll go give him a call and tell him to post here.

hey.
no idea what to say you just begged us to :P

I wasn't begging. I was asking with urgency...not begging. :p

Right... If it makes you feel any better then lets just say that :P

word up

i'm alexandrian too

to answer the race question: egyptians are a pretty broad range due to the history of the region. they range (in terms of paleness) from people of ancient greek origin (red hair, white skin) to nubians/people of nubian descent, such as anwar el-sadat (dark skin, almost sub-saharan african in appearance). the average is as stuck-on-1700 described though.

Egyptians may have many different appearances, but the dark skin, black hair seems to be the most common. It's pretty rare to see someone with red hair and white skin;I've lived here for nearly 7 years and have seen only teo of those.

ramses88, does your screen name refer to the "Ramses" the Egyptian Pharoe, or am I mistaken?

yeah it does

I really wasn't begging, I have no idea what made you think that. And, I really don't have a problem with begging -- as long as it's not in person and I'm not asking for money.

Hahaha I'm just annoying you :)

well, okay.

is Enn still alive? she hasn't been here for a while... maybe she's been MURDERED!! lol

you know, it really bugs me how there are so many people living in Egypt but none of them have seen this forum.

^man you're optimistic killing her for not responding for a few days. I won't be online from Sept12-18 so don't panic ok?
Maybe you should find every eygptian and force them to post here lol

where do you wanna go to college stuck? where do you go to school? i live in seattle, but my cousin is at the german university (i guess that's what it translates into?) this year and my whole family went to u of alexandria/were among the founders of u of alexandria

okay, um..I was hoping to send applications to US universities, but that's out of the question now. so I guess I'll just have to settle for an egyptian University. I might apply to the AUC, but I'll probably jsut go to Alexandria University :( .

btw, it's the GUC (German Universtiy in Cairo)

oh, and, isn't Alex Uni a government university? I didn't think it had founders other than.... the government.

No, it was founded in 1942 by a group of scholars, among which were Taha Hussein and my great-grandfather. Obviously it was funded by the government...

Is the GUC any good? I didn't want to actually ask my cousin that, lol.

WHy are US schools out of the question for you?

the GUC is expensive (30,000 pounds a year) but most of the kids I know who got in say it's really good and gives them a good chance to study or work abroad. I know a few people in the studying british corriculums who got in with full scholarships.

about US unis, my parents seem to think that I'd be better off here. I know for sure that it doesn't help my carrer (bec. it's not accredited outside the middle east and I don't want to work here when I graduate)...but they seem to think hat staying here would be better. I personally think that they just want to keep an eye on me; which would be pretty easy for them to do because around here people are forced to live with their parents throughout college.

does Alex Uni have a website? I want to check it's history, it never occured to me that it wasn't founded by the government.

well obviously it was a public project with governmental support, so if you want to use metonymy yes, "the government," founded it, but that's just a stand-in for the council of directors that started it.

Also, U of Alex is not crippling like you think it is as long as you graduate at the top of your class. My mom, dad, and uncle all went to U of Alex: my dad went to Harvard for his PhD (#3 in class), my uncle to Cornell (#2 in class), and my mom to Boston College (she actually graduated at the top of her class-#1-but all her other applications got lost in the Egyptian mail system, and Boston College was the only school to ever receive her application of the 10 graduate schools she applied to. lol).
