I'll be an upcoming junior this fall and I have a pretty tough schedule. Nonetheless, I'd like to self study some APs (this is on top of preparing for the SATs and ACT which I have to take next year too. Bummer.)

I'm taking AP Bio (2 sem), AP Calc (2 sem), AP Chem (2 sem), AP Lang/Comp (1 sem), and AP Stats (1 sem).

On top of this I'd like to self study Env. Sci. & maybe an Econ. That'll give me a total of 8 APs.. maybe 9 (took Euro and US sophomore year) before I apply. I'd really like to get National Scholar.

My senior year I plan on taking college classes.
Will this be manageable?

The ones I listed are all my classes for next year.
I’m not required to take a foreign lang or history because I’ve already had four semesters of history (ridiculous, I know.) and two semesters of French my freshmen and sophomore years.

I took macro before micro and got a 5 on both exams. I loved the classes and found them to be easy (and I took them online, too, so I didn’t really have a teacher). In retrospect, taking micro before macro might have been easier just because you’re starting with a smaller part of the picture. I know that in the Princeton Review, they put micro first.

Where are you looking to go to college? If you’re looking at the top 25, maybe even the top 50, you really should have more than two years of foreign language and history.

I’m looking at top 25 colleges. Some of my choices include Rice, Duke, and maybe some first tier schools like Penn and Stanford (long shot, for me).

The thing is, if I take a year more of foreign language, I’ll have to give up my rank 1 to several other students (they are taking all APs, hence get a 5.0 credit for each class. Foreign Lang is only a 4.0 credit.)

I was going to take a third foreign language my senior year.
But, eh, I can see where you guys are coming from. I do, after all, have seven blocks of math and science.

You probably won’t get into a top 25 college with no history or foreign language classes in your most important year of high school. Even state schools want you to have 2-3 years of foreign language, and 3-4 years of history.
