Hello, world :)
How are you?

I guess I kinda feel like I'm in a strange situation, so I wanted some opinions... hopefully to make me feel better and less anxious while I wait for a reply from UCF.

I am going into my senior year of high school, but I am graduating early (in December)
I am graduating high school along with my AA degree from IRSC (About 69 credit hours, I believe)

My unweighted GPA is somewhere around 3.8 (I guess), while my weighted GPA is currently 4.9
But my SAT scores are 1120 (Without writing) and 1660 composite... (Low, I know sobs)

I applied for the Spring 2012 semester, so I guess my question is if getting accepted is in my favor..

I've been only waiting for a week now since I applied, but I'm constantly anxious and panicking about it.

Sooo.. let me know what you think ? I really appreciate it.
Hope you all are well :)

Congratulations on graduating early. I would say your chances are very favorable. Plus, you have your AA already so you should be admitted as a transfer student easily. Good luck to you :)

What are you planning on majoring in?

Hi, and thank you for your encouraging words :)

I actually was told that I had to apply as a freshman (not a transfer student). I’m sure that doesn’t make a difference though.

Well, I plan to join the hospitality program. I have to figure out if I can double major in Hospitality Management & Restaurant and Foodservice Management That’s my plan so far~

Oh wow, that’s interesting. Your stats are pretty good either way, though. Your major and plan sounds great as well. I hear there are tons of opportunities for the hospitality majors and those in the hospitality school overall.

Ah, yes, I would certainly hope so. I fear the only thing I’m good at is hospitality related fields, so the more opportunities the better ^_^

Well, you’ve certainly quelled my fears for the moment, maybe I’ll actually sleep tonight without false dreams where I am accepted haha

LOL don’t worry. I hope things work out for you. Update us when you get your decision!

I promise! Hopefully the wait won’t be too long!~ I won’t be able to take it :|

Been there, definitely done that! Lol. I felt like it took forever to get my decision. Starting in August and can’t wait!

That’s fantastic! I’m happy for you :D

I honestly think you have a good chance based on your achievements thus far. Your SAT is not that great, but it’s not exactly out of UCF’s range either, to say the least. Relax and await for an answer!

Btw, I’m also contemplating going into hospitality. Do you mind telling me a little about that program? Most importantly, job opportunities. Thanks!

Hmm. I don’t know what to tell you…
Well, the undergrad program has three BA degrees to choose from (Hospitality Management, Event Management, and Restaurant and Foodservice Management)

What kind of stuff do you want to know about the program?

Also, about job opportunities, there are countless opportunities and career choices. I, personally, am only getting a degree because my family wanted me to have a secure back up degree. I plan on opening my own business (a bakery) and going to culinary school to perfect those fancy techniques ^_^

A list of jobs that you can look into are:
Concierge
Ecotourism
Event Planner
Food Service
Host
Hotel
Housekeeper
Motel
Recreational
Restaurant Manager
Travel Agency
Waitstaff

(I just pulled a bunch of stuff out of my head, there’s more. It really depends on the course of action you with to take.)

Anyways, I’m glad you’re thinking about joining the hospitality program
I feel like it’s the only program in the world that I could possibly excel in Haha

Good luck in figuring things out! :)

I think joining the Hospitality college in Orlando is a PERFECT decision. Just think; there are so many opportunities to gain exposure to any career in Hospitality because of the amusement parks, tourism, hotels, and diversity. I can almost promise you there will be plenty of opportunities to intern and even work once you receive your degree.

I’m glad UCF offers the Rosen College of Hospitality because it’s conveniently located in the heart of tourism in Orlando. My major is Forensic Science, but I wouldn’t mind taking up some sort of course dealing with Hospitality just have the experience.
I would suggest looking over the website and seeing what the Rosen College has to offer. & might I also add, the campus is beautiful!

I will also be getting my A.A this december from IRSC. I applied a month ago in may, but have not got a reply back yet

Oh my goodness, you have waited that long already!?

Agh, how is your sanity?

Hey I’m gonna be a hospitality management major! I know for a fact that you can double major with either restaurant or event management ;)

Heyyy, thanks so much! I’m glad to know now :D

I am trying to be sane, lol. But i am anxiously waiting, checking the status everyday, hopefully they accept me!

Good luck! Fingers crossed.
Although, I certainly hope I don’t have to wait that long :O

Good Luck to you too! Hopefully its not too much longer, I will post something if anything changes :)
