Elaborate on an EC?

I have one of those 'elaborate on an extracurricular activity' questions to answer:

I'm considering putting in a community service activity I did. I think it's actually very impressive, but I'm afraid I'll simply fall in the category of applicants who submit their supplement essays as descriptions of community service activities. Should this be a worry?

Or do you suggest that I try and elaborate on one of my other ECs(which I think, are unique, but also less impressive)?

I do not want to make it public exactly what I did, but I will happily PM.

Please help me out - the deadlines are arriving!

If you really feel that you have dedicated and learned a lot through your community service, and that it is the most significant or meaningful ec, than you should write about it.

The essay is to “elaborate” and not just explain. You should go beyond what you did, and further emphasize on why you did it, how it has affected your attitude and values, and what you learned.

If you are able to write in a personal way, you would be able to stand out.
