Elaboration on a short activity

I had a question about the section of the common application that asks to elaborate on an extracurricular activity or work experience. I am unsure as to whether I should write a couple of brief sentences about an extracurricular activity, or if it would be okay to write about a certain event in a narrative-type format.

I was considering writing about an Invisible Children program that I went to called The Rescue in a narrative-type format. Is it okay to put this, or would colleges be more concerned with an activity such as student council or sports?

I think that talking about The Resuce would be much more interesting and unique than other activities like sports.

But as far as narrative-type goes, remember that you are limited to 150 words. I had to work to fit my clear-cut elaboration into this amount, so I can’t even imagine how you would manage a narrative. If you can somehow manage to write creatively while properly explaining in under 150 words, then go for it, but this seems like an extremely difficult task to me.
