I recieved the application for ELC from my HS counselor and it made me think about whether or not I’ll be eligible for ELC. Right now, I’m in the top 12% of my class, but I’m pretty sure that I will get all A’s this semester, which will raise my ranking. Even if that’s not enough and I don’t get in the top 9%, will I still get ELC?

You need to be in the top 9%.

If I am the top 9.14%, am I not quailfied?

@UCIGirl: You would not be ELC, unfortunately. I was around 4.5% and didn’t get it this year. It doesn’t mean you can’t get into a UC, though. I just don’t believe you’re guaranteed to get into any.

For Fall 2012 the ELC eligibility has changed to the top 9%. But it’s unlikely that any of the UCs will be guaranteeing admission because of the significantly larger applicant pool. The ELC will likely ensure you are guaranteed to Merced.
