my friends and i were talking about getting into ucb and ucla because everyone who got elc from our school got into those schools. i was wondering if anyone with really elc and decent scores was rejected by either of these schools. and does anyone know exactly how important the elc stuff is for those schools. i know that at ucsd, from looking at the rubric they use, that elc isnt that important. anyways. please respond. thanks

ELC doesn't guarantee admission to the top UC's, but they have a significantly higher acceptance rate: http://www.ucop.edu/pathways/ITU0506.pdf

I know someone with ELC who got rejected from Santa Barbara.

He only got into Santa Cruz, Riverside, Merced, and maybe Davis (Irvine's till pending)

jaredthegreat: were his scores/ec's subpar?

It's a mistake to think that ELC alone gets anyone anywhere (other than the guaranteed campus). Kids at the top of their class also are going to have top ECs, essays, scores etc.

of course bigbrother,
we were just trying to see what range of scores these kids/how good their ecs were.

when calculating elc, do UC's weight the GPA's?

<--elc and rejected to both berk and la..

berk i just picked a way impacted major, but i decided it wasn't worth going there unless i was going for engineering.

ucla is random **** as always.

i did however get into ucsd for bio which is where i'm going to go.

The same thing is going on in my school. All the ELC kids i have talked to have gotten in to LA which is very surprising because a lot of them did not have good stats. I would also like to see who got rejected with ELC and if you could please post your stats. Thanks a lot

two of my ELC friends got rejected from LA. one applied to bioengineering, the other neuroscience.
both, however, were accepted at berkeley and SD.

me.

im elc.

4.2 uc gpa/1420/800/630/610.

rejected from both.

numbermaster, what major did you apply for ?

i was rejected by la and i was elc, but I think my rejection had alot to do with the fact that my major's admissions is based more strongly on my design portfolio. Media Arts/Design major here.

Yes, extremefob,
My D was elc. They weigh the UC a-through-g categories of subjects with higher points for Honors & AP grades than for grades in standard courses. (She was a 3.98 prior to the weighting, a 4.43 after weighting.) Only Soph. & Jr. Yrs are counted.

Yes, tons didnt get in. Not an exagerration. Screw the UC system, I think I'm going to file a lawsuit.

math.

not a very impacted major.

trump, did the rejected kids have really bad test scores?
